I do read other genres besides fantasy. In fact, some of my favorite authors have nothing to do with fantasy. That said, there's nothing better than curling up with a good book about an alternate universe to make you forget a really bad day.

Haroun and the Sea of Storiesa
A delightful tale about a storyteller struggling to regain his inspiration.

The Witch's Boy takes some of our favorite fairy tales and winds them around the story of a misunderstood boy. Beautiful.

I get a good laugh every time I read just about anything by Terry Pratchett, but my favorite one that I keep turning back to has to be Equal Rites.

I think that I related to the main female character in The Tombs of Atuan when I was a child more than any other story then or since.

When I read The Eyes of a Dragon, it was the pictures that scared me the most. King knows how to tell a tale, even for littler people.

Every time I forget what good writing feels like, I open up The God of Small Things and plunge in. It makes the mind remember forgotten melodies hidden inside words.
